Day 1
Day 2
After breakfast at the hotel, we will visit the Mosque Hassan 2, one of the largest and most spectacular mosques in Africa, with a minaret of 210 meters. We will tour some of the street art along the water in Casablanca. After your visit, we will drive to the capital of Morocco, Rabat, for the second night.
Day 3
In the morning we will start our Rabat visit with a full morning of sightseeing. Kasbah Of Loudaya is a historic fortified military camp located in Rabat and built in the twelfth century. It is a UNESCO World Heritage. We continue to the Kasbah of Challah, the fascinating site of a Merinid necropolis located on the site of an ancient city in the present city of Rabat. We then proceed to the Hassan Tower. In the 12th century, the tower was intended to be the largest minaret in the world along with its mosque, also intended to be the world’s largest. When al-Mansur died in 1199, construction on the mosque stopped and it remains frozen in time.
After visiting Rabat’s spectacular monuments and taking in some street art, we take the road to Chefchaouen (the blue city), through the scenic Rif Mountains. Your night will be spent in a comfortable riad.
Day 4
Day 5
Day 6
You will spend a full day both inside the old medina and viewing the Fes medina from the hills that surround the old city. A professional guide will be with you to tell you stories of this fascinating medina.
Day 7
We will depart at 08h00 am from your riad and drive to Merzouga. On the way to the biggest dunes in the world, we will stop by Ifran, a beautiful city constructed by the French before Moroccan independence. Located in the Middle Atlas, at 1713 meters above sea level, Ifran is a ski resort. We then continue through the forest of Azrou where you can see – and photograph – wild monkeys. We then drive to Merzouga, going by way of Morocco’s apple capital, Midelt, where we will have lunch.
The drive from Midelt to Merzouga is a series of fascinating landscapes, with stops for photos. Arriving in Merzouga, you will meet your camel and guide for a one-hour ride through the dunes to your desert camp for the night. Dinner will be served in a large year-round tent, under the stars with local music of the Tuareg people. Accommodations are in luxury year-round tents with full facilities.
Day 8
In the early morning, we share the sunrise over the top of the dunes, eat breakfast and then head back from the camp by camel. We drive toward Boumalne Dades, stopping by a canal built in the 17 century…which remains in use. We stop in Tinguir for a walk in the Moroccan grand canyon, named Todgua Canyon. The road winds beside the spectacular Todra Valley, before we arrive at your hotel in Boumalne Dades. Your hotel is located in the front of the valley to ensure that you have the best panoramic view of the entire valley.
Day 9
Day 10
The departure will be 08h00 am from your hotel. On the way to Marrakech, we will visit one of the most beautiful and famous Ksars (fortified Berber villages) in the south of Morocco. Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah is a ksar (Ighrem, in Berber) listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO, in the province of Ouarzazate.
You will have enough time to visit the Ksar and have lunch before we begin our drive-through and over the High Atlas mountains. At the top, we will begin our drive down through an incredible mountain landscape with spectacular views – until we arrive at your riad in Marrakech.
Day 11
Day 12
This morning you will be met at your hotel and transferred to Essaouira. On the way, you will stop at an Argan oil cooperative where you will enjoy the experience of observing the traditional processes of oil making. First of all, the local women sit armed with base rock and a hand-held sharp stone to start the extraction process. They crack each Argan fruit to reach the kernels. The women roast the kernels slightly to bring out the flavor, then set them aside to cool down before they grind them into a very thick brown oily liquid using a traditional rock grinder (Azerg). Soon after that, one of the women mixes the oily paste with warm water before hand-kneading to bring the pure, unfiltered Argan oil up to the surface to finally be able to filter it. The brown dough-like hunk (local term: Tazegmount), left after the extraction procedure, is protein-rich and usually used for effective traditional cosmetic recipes as well as for animal feed. You will learn all these methods starting from harvesting good quality fruit to the extraction and making of Argan oil products. Enjoy a Berber lunch at the cooperative then continue your way to Essaouira where you will enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 13
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel then go exploring. Essaouira is a relatively small, easily navigable beach city ideal for exploring on your own. Essaouira has got a distinct multicultural feel, resulting from the large Portuguese, French, and Jewish populations that once called it home. Its mild climate and expansive stretches of ocean sand also place it among Morocco’s top beach towns. Essaouira’s walled medina was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage list in 2001. Its well-preserved, late-18th-century fortified layout is a prime example of European military architecture in North Africa. For the visitor, the mellow atmosphere, narrow winding streets lined with colorful shops, whitewashed houses, and heavy old wooden doors make it a wonderful place to stroll. Overnight at the hotel
Day 14
After breakfast, we will drive to Casablanca via Safi, the sardine capital in the country, after a short break in Safi we will continue our way to El Oualidia the capital of oysters, there we will have a delicious lunch of fish next to the Atlantic Ocean before we continue our way to Casablanca for overnight.
